“Holder” is located in Wihr-au-Val, where the Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris vines grow particularly well. The soil, composed of granite and clay, offers them their opulence, complexity and extreme exquisiteness.
Surface area : 1.20 ha (3 acres)
Location : steep slopes with southern exposure
Soil : very decomposed granite rich in veins of clay
Age of the vines : 25 years
Production (for this vintage) : 5 500 bottles (460 cases) (most of them already sold - stock very limited)
Main analytic characteristics :
- final alcohol = 12°4
- residual sugar = 32 g/l
- pH = 3.74
Tasting notes :
- A bright straw yellow colour with gold reflections.
- A delicate nose, still a bit closed with a charming flowery bouquet (roses, Elder flowers) and nuances of the ripe grapes like exotic fruits (litchis)…
- Round and full-bodied on the palate, it also shows elegance and subtlety with its nice fine acidity which perfectly balances the opulence and adds length.
This very subtle Gewurztraminer is still young in regard to its potential and will be more opened and well-developed in a few months.
