Riesling Herrenreben 2006
Cépage : Riesling

“Herrenreben” : In the 15th century, these vines were already famous as the property of the noblemen of Ribeaupierre . Our most mature vines of Riesling grow here, producing a particularly racy Riesling thanks to the granite soil very rich in minerals and the high elevation which preserves the finesse of the aromas and the freshness of its acidity.

Surface area : 1.5 ha (3.75 acres)

Terroir : hillsides at the entrance of a valley with a high elevation from 400 to 450 m south / south-west exposure to the sun

Soil : the soil is a light sandy soil made of very decomposed granite with a fractured granite basement

Age of the vines : from 35 to 38 years

Production : 4 500 bottles (375 cases)

Main analytic characteristics :
- alcohol = 13°10
- residual sugars = 11 g/l
- pH = 3.26

Tasting notes :
- A brilliant pale yellow colour with gold reflections.
- An intense nose with citrus fruits overtone and some floral and mineral underlying nuances
- After a round and rich first taste with a predominant aroma of peels of grapefruit, it has an impressive development with a good body and a lively and tightened acidity which has the last word and brings a very pure finish strengthened by a nice minerality.
This is a rather complex Riesling, exemplary of great Riesling of granite, with at the same time a good concentration and a very pure and elegant acidity .

Associations :
It is unrivalled as an accompaniment to :
- starters
- salmon smoked, raw or marinated
- fish, shellfish, seafood (simply or richly cooked)
- poultry and white meat ( cooked with cream)
- oven-baked oysters
- Italian cuisine (with fresh or sun-dried tomatoes)
- fresh and creamy cheeses

Ageing : This true gastronomic wine can be enjoyed now. However, it will still improve by ageing until 8 and 10 years !
